Pitzer Garden Update

The squirrels were ruthless with much of the plants put out at the end of last semester.

When my anger rises, I remember the story of the farmer who wanted to be a Jaguar and I vow to do a better job of finding ways to grow food, enough to share.

The squirrels didn’t get all the seedlings however.  The ones with wire cages and also covered with row fabric were untouched.  I’ve been stripping the leaves from the sunflowers and laying them down on the beds to help keep the moisture in.

Nine pounds each of yellow onions and garlic.  Very tasty.

Lots of nice sunflowers.  Using the mint to make soap sprays to combat the bagrada at other farm sites.  It seems to be helping.

The sky on the first day of the big fire up in Azuza canyon.  It was at least 110 degrees on this day.
