Pine needles made direct seeding underneath the trees very challenging.

Ended up transplanting a  bunch of starts from a another garden site.  The trees provide a nice microclimate that is very good for the brassicas.  The most popular brassicas for bagrada bug seem to be radishes, Napa cabbage, red Russian kale.  The bagrada seem to key in on the most overly stressed plant.  If a plant is neglected and unpicked, it will key in.  Better harvesting, more evenly across plants is best.  Leave no leaf stubs.  Looking to intercrop more to create more confusion for bugs, habitat for beneficials, increase biodiversity, explore niche market products.
